Martin Riedl – Film in Education Founder

Working as a photographer and advertising creative for many years, Martin founded Film in Education over ten years ago and has seen the audiences, children and schools involved grow exponentially.

Jade Beard – Senior Producer and Partner

As a filmmaker Jade is very aware of the tools that go into making a good story! Jade has directed and produced a range of short films, documentaries and promotional films for a variety of causes and clients. She has extensive experience working on location both in the UK and overseas, she has travelled around Africa documenting the transport of cotton, gold and tea and has just spent the year producing a series of films communicating teaching and development in Primary and Secondary schools across England.  Jade’s highlight of the FIE calendar is The London Primary School Silent Film Festival, held this year at The Criterion Theatre, where she has helped this festival grow from a small gathering in a church hall to a West End Theatre.

Justin Allder – Workshop Director

Justin is an actor, director, and facilitator, having worked for CBC, ITV and the BBC to name but a few! Justin now produces and directs documentaries and short films for clients such as NHS, Cabinet War Rooms, Greenwich and Lewisham Young Peoples Theatre, specialising in working with vulnerable and at-risk adults and young people when he isn’t with us at Film in Education.

John Mcraw – Workshop Director

Having worked as an actor for 13 years in theatre and television, John now works as a teaching artist for a range of theatre, film and charitable organisations that include The National Theatre, Mousetrap Theatre Projects, The Primary Shakespeare Company, Polka Theatre and Film in Education.  He is a Learning Associate with the National Theatre, delivering theatre projects in London schools, and the Project Manager and Youth Theatre Director for Freefalling at Polka Theatre, a drama scheme for primary age children facing challenging circumstances at home or school.

Neil Carter

Neil Carter – Workshop Director

Neil is a qualified teacher and trained as an actor–musician at Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama. He was Artistic Director of the Greenwich Youth Theatre and worked as a freelance director in children’s theatre across the UK. After working in several London primary schools teaching music and drama, he joined the National Theatre as a learning associate. He writes plays for children as well as lecturing on applied theatre at drama schools and universities.

Chris Wilkins–Shooting Workshop Producer

Chris has filmed and produced documentary, drama and promotional projects within the corporate, education & arts and non-profit sectors, working with a variety of communities on a number of small and large scale projects both in the UK and overseas.  As Workshop Producer, he is the primary point of contact for Film in Education workshops and is always on hand to guide schools through every part of the process, from filming days and props to call sheets and location finding. He loves working on the Silent Films and always looks forward to learning about a new classroom topic!

Ross Casswell- Editor

Ross has been editing for Film in Education for over 8 years and has been involved with the Silent Film Workshops since their beginning!  He is a very talented film maker and has a superb eye for a story.

Meg Rowlands – Producer

Meg is the youngest member of our team and works with Film in Education alongside studying for her final year History BA at University of Greenwich. Meg is Production Assistant across London when she has the time, but has previously worked as an Exhibition Assistant at the V&A Museum of Childhood, leading workshops and guiding visitors – she knows everything there is to know about board games! She has a history in music, too, and absolutely loves coming up with new ideas for stories.
